Expect visionary speakers, rebellious creatives, and conversations that go beyond "just business." There will be&nbsp;talks&nbsp;you didn’t know you needed, award ceremonies that actually mean something, and, of course, parties to remind you why creativity and chaos go hand in hand. Oh, and surprises. Lots and lots and lots of them. We’re not spilling any details (yet), but your social media feed will feel naked at some point without a DK flex.



Superlatives are nice. But DK was always a&nbsp;feeling, says&nbsp;Dunja&nbsp;Ivana Ballon, festival director and HURA and IAB Croatia director. It’s actually difficult to explain what makes this festival unforgettable, but the fact remains it was always&nbsp;the place where ‘extraordinary’ is the bare minimum.

Of course, we’ve got the big names. The kind that make you say, Wow, wait, they are coming to Croatia?&nbsp;But that’s not the reason people come back year after year.&nbsp;DK is about breaking boundaries, unlearning clichés, and creating a space where brilliance feels effortless. If you’re just here for the headliners,&nbsp;you’re&nbsp;kind of missing the point.

MIXX Awards Croatia is not just any competition. It is the stage for celebrating the most brilliant digital campaigns and tools/platforms in the communications industry. Powered and organized by IAB Croatia, the fifteenth season is officially open — and it will reward those who dare to push the boundaries of digital.



This year, there are four new categories:



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Best AI-Driven Project, for projects that have significantly integrated artificial intelligence (AI) into their strategy, content creation, implementation, or optimization,</li>



<li>Best Effective Use of Data, for projects that have utilized data in a creative or innovative way to enhance the effectiveness and success of the campaign,</li>



<li>Best Video Content, for digital content created as part of a campaign or as a standalone piece, whether short-term or long-term, that is not directly adapted from a TV commercial,</li>



<li>Best Export Project, for projects created in Croatia that have been implemented in at least one international market.</li>
</ul>



Alongside the new, our existing categories return for best campaigns (Brand Awareness Campaign, Direct Response and Lead Generation Campaign, Cross-Media Integration Campaign, Campaign Effectiveness, and Corporate Social Responsibility Campaign) and best tools/platforms (Best Digital Product, Best Media Strategy, Best Branded Content, Best Website, Best Social, Viral, Best Tech &amp; Innovation, Best Publisher Project).



And for the ultimate bragging rights? Best in Show awaits the digital crème de la crème, the highest-scoring entry across all complete campaign categories in the Campaigns Track.



As digital evolves, so does MIXX Awards Croatia, offering a major opportunity to showcase market advancements in digital communications — through the well-known categories as well as some new ones. The jury is eagerly looking forward to seeing everything you've prepared this season, said Nela Fegić Moguljak, this year’s MIXX Awards Croatia jury president.



Got a busy portfolio? Perfect. Submit three entries, and the fourth one’s on us. But act fast — regular entries close on 14 January 2025, with the late entry period ending on 17 February 2025. Projects launched between 25 January 2024 and 17 February 2025 are eligible.



In the Campaigns track, only agencies are eligible to apply, while in the Tools/Platforms track, agencies, startups, and similar companies can enter their projects — except for the Best Publisher Project category, which is exclusively open to publishers.

We are proud that ENNA, as a group focused on a sustainable future and technology, is bringing attention to a topic we need to start talking more about. Our slogans "Za sutra koje vrijedi" and "Way to grow" reflect the ideas that Amber Case will also be speaking about – how to develop technology that benefits us, said Dorotea Lazanin Jelenc, Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing at ENNA.



She’s been a Mozilla Fellow, named one of Fast Company’s Most Influential Women in Tech, and has written books like Calm Technology and A Kids Book About Technology — because let’s be honest, we’re all still figuring out how to use it properly. Amber Case joins DK2025: The cyborg anthropologist fixing our tech overload

This year’s digital game is next level. After a record-breaking run in 2024, MIXX Awards Croatia is back — bigger, bolder, and buzzing with over 170 submitted projects.



That’s a 35% increase in entries, with 40% landing in the Campaign categories and the remaining 60% coming in hot under Tools/Platforms. The message is clear: Croatia’s digital scene is alive, thriving, and ready to make global noise.



Licensed by IAB Croatia, MIXX Awards is part of the international IAB Global network, raising the bar for digital marketing excellence in our region. Now in its 15th edition, this competition is the definitive pulse check on who’s pushing boundaries and setting new standards in digital creativity and innovation.



After hours of judging, <a href="https://iab-croatia.com/mixx-awards-croatia-2025-ovi-ce-strucnjaci-odluciti-onajboljim-digitalnim-ostvarenjima-u-hrvatskoj/">the expert jury</a> has chosen the crème de la crème — and trust us, they didn’t make it easy. The finalist status is awarded to up to five top-scoring entries per category, provided they passed the threshold. Meet MIXX Awards Croatia 2025 finalists

At IdejaX, both the big-name agencies and the underdogs are showing off across four tracks. But when it comes to picking the winners (to be announced in Rovinj), it all boils down to the verdict of a 12-member jury of industry experts.



There's a new deadline for entering your best creative projects — now you have time until 17 March. And this year brings some shiny new features, including the Best in Channel track, which finally acknowledges that how you say something can matter just as much as what you say. The Best on Market track has also expanded to include more business-focused awards, alongside the usual Best Branding &amp; Rebranding and Best of Positive Change trophies. Bottom line? The game just got bigger, and so did the stakes. Oh, and the jury lineup is out, too — so you know exactly who to impress (or blame).



The judging panel is a roll call of top creative directors and designers from Croatia’s biggest agencies. I’m looking forward to this year’s IdejaX — and leading the jury, says Marin Ostojić. We’ve switched things up this time. Best In Channel opens the floodgates for smaller and niche agencies to flex their creative muscles. And voting will be completely secret, so no leaks, no politics — winners won’t know they’ve won until Rovinj. With all these changes, judging will be tough, but we’re here to separate the wheat from the chaff and reward work that actually deserves it.

ABOUT YOUNG LIONS CROATIA



Young Lions Croatia challenges creatives under 30 to team up and develop a solution for a non-profit or civil society organization within 24 hours. Participants compete in one of six categories — Design, Digital, Marketers, Media, Print, and PR — where they can showcase their lion’s strength. Isolated from the outside world, they have the freedom to unleash their creativity and demonstrate their leadership in the communication jungle. This intense format not only raises social awareness but also hones creative skills, time management, communication, and decision-making. The best team also earns the chance to represent Croatian creativity on the global stage at the Cannes Young Lions creativity competition.

DK Festival has an updated visual identity thanks to our unstoppable creative duo Sven Sorić and Jelena Babić. These two just don’t miss. Ever.



Gone are the days of our monochromatic story. We’ve had enough of playing it (completely) cool, so we gave DK Festival the makeover it deserves — meet our new gradient. Yes, it’s bold. Yes, it’s fresh.



This year’s iteration of the DK2025 identity confronts familiar elements — typography, black and white surfaces, cutting, and duplicating — with the unexpected: a multicolored gradient. Where did the colors come from? By introducing this new element, we aim to provoke thought about the nature of our identity and communication while testing the boundaries of a visual system we constantly mutate. Have we ceased to be black-and-white even though we’re using color? Have we created a new identity, or is this just another step in its continuity? The answers will reveal themselves as the campaign unfolds — ultimately, it’s up to the observers to decide.

Dunja Ivana Ballon, the woman&nbsp;behind your favorite madness, or as the titles call her Festival &amp; Program Director,&nbsp;agrees with you:&nbsp;"Extraordinary things in life don’t come by easy or often which is why we are so grateful for each and every one of YOU who believed in us and chose to spend your time with us"&nbsp;—&nbsp;both alone&nbsp;and with several thousand other people, but that’s apparently our thing (let's be real, who doesn’t love a good audience). When asked about 2025 and exceeding expectations, she clapped back "we might be a lot of things but boring isn’t one of them".

Our typically-atypical festival surprised everyone with innovative new formats that pushed the boundaries of the events market&nbsp;or what we just like to consider "the fun stuff" such as midnight talks, beachside streams, post-program pints, a beach afterparty at sunset, spectacular main 360° hall, sold-out batches of our FUCK&amp;LOVE fashion, a new fourth hall in an indoor woods, the first AI sidekick of such an event in Croatia, even drinking rakija on the main stage after midnight with one of the greatest living thinkers on the planet (Dan Ariely, we love you), marriage proposals to the hottest guy ever (yes, Marnick Vandenbroek, we’re talking about you), a legendary creative Brian Collins creating waves (and throwing chocolate at people),&nbsp;DJ-ing in the club with Oobah Butler, brass band wake-up performance on Friday morning&nbsp;and a whole plethora of other unprecedented content we enjoyed to the max at the sunniest edition of DK Festival — yet.&nbsp;

You were a part of what many consider the best program in this part of the world, where we hosted&nbsp;unique insights from 13 extraordinary speakers from Argentina, Belgium, Singapore, the UK, the USA, on the festival’s 360° stage (did you know many call it the scariest stage in the world?) and celebrated&nbsp;numerous national and regional experts, leaders in our market that created this festival with us.

The spectrum of topics covered everything from pushing the boundaries of creativity, taboo topics in the industry, future, neuroscience, breaking stereotypes, psychology, creative chaos, AI and even tripping, drawing out the most current and compelling aspects of our work.&nbsp;

The evening sessions were shows like no other as we presented awards for the best of the best among&nbsp;518 projects competing for industry awards, chosen by a selection of 118 jury members and competition committees.

This thrilling festival edition once again demonstrated that, from one extreme to another, from black to white, it is possible to simultaneously love and hate the communications industry, but it is impossible to remain indifferent towards it. So, at the closing of the tenth edition, we said farewell to our community and&nbsp;thanked our speakers, panelists, partners, festival friends, media, and everyone involved in the organization who helped realize this extensive project.&nbsp;We congratulated the competition winners, closing the festival doors — until next year.

<li>Show us your stuff: as a video summary or a PDF document. In the new Design Mosaic track (Track II), you must present your work exclusively in a PDF format. The video summary can be up to 3 minutes long.</li>



<li>Upload your campaign visual in .jpg/.jpeg format (A4 size recommended) with a resolution of at least 300 dpi, which will be used for promotional purposes. You must also include a brief summary of the main challenge from the brief, your solution, and the achieved results (max. 150 words). Brevity is the soul of wit—or in this case, credibility.</li>

You can apply for BalCannes 2025 until 20 January 2025. Projects eligible for submission must have been realized during the two-year qualification period from January 20, 2023, to January 20, 2025. It’s important to note that projects this year can compete in three tracks: Market Mosaic, Design Mosaic, and Positive Change Mosaic. You can submit the same project multiple times—your work can be entered into more than one category across all three tracks.

1, 2, 3 — enter BalCannes in three simple steps

These 15 experts will be the bridge between the competition and the competitors and as such will contribute to the continuous betterment of BalCannes.



Ahead of the new competition season, the BalCannes Expert Council has been assembled – an advisory body that will operate during the planning and organization phase of the competition. Its primary task is to participate in the ongoing alignment of BalCannes with the needs of the industry and the markets of the participating countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Slovenia, and Serbia).



Members of the BalCannes Expert Council will be representatives from the three best-ranked agencies in each participating country of BalCannes in the current year. In accordance with amazing results in 2023, the members for this year are: Dunja Bibianko (AV Studio, SLO), Nataša Bojanić (Leo Burnett Belgrade, SRB), Darko Bosnar (Imago Ogilvy, HR), Davor Bruketa (Bruketa&amp;Žinić&amp;Grey, HR), Amna Džambić Branković (Via Media, BIH), Bojan Kočovski (McCann Skopje, MKD), Ejub Kučuk (MITA group, BIH), Predrag Nikolovski (AdValue, MKD), Marko Pešić (Ovation BBDO, SRB), Sara Prenc (Studio Tumpić/Prenc, HR), Dejan Spirkoski (Saatchi&amp;Saatchi Skopje, MKD), Gordan Turković (CTA komunikacije, HR), Žarko Veljković (Jazavac i Utorak, SRB), Marko Vičič (Futura DDB, SLO) and Dino Zupančič (Agencija 101, SLO).

Members of the Council will discuss these ideas: competition groups and categories, judging, as well as other activities connected to planning and the realization of the competition. An initial meeting was also held, during which members of the Organizing Committee presented an overview of last year's season and plans for the upcoming year. Members of the Expert Council provided valuable feedback, suggestions, and ideas for the continued development of BalCannes.



For us, BalCannes is primarily an opportunity to establish new business contacts, and only then a competitive event. Some of the most important clients from the entire region are on the jury, and it often happens that one of our projects catches their eye, regardless of the final outcome of the competition. That's why we also submit projects that don't necessarily fall into the category of typical "festival" material but perfectly showcase the breadth and diversity of our expertise, said Davor Bruketa, a member of the competition's Organizing Committee.

Let us remind you that after the winners were announced at the main stage in Rovinj, the BalCannes Report was published. The report called <a href="https://res.cloudinary.com/dgzjet5jn/images/v1716896038/BalCannes-Report-2024/BalCannes-Report-2024.pdf?_i=AA" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BALCANNES MOSAIC OF CREATIVITY</a> encompasses several regional lists showing the best projects, advertisers, and agencies in our region, but also within each of the five countries included in the Council.

Best regional creatives once again in the BalCannes Expert Council

The fifteenth season of IdejaX is ahead of us — and there are some new and some familiar faces in the new Organizing Committee.



The new competitive season in the communications industry is about to begin. If you're a creative, you already know about IdejaX, one of the most important creative awards, that will once again reward your most creative projects this year. To mix things up, HURA has updated the Organizing Committee which now consists of six permanent members and three rotating members.



The Organizing Committee is responsible for planning the entire competition process. In addition to the existing members — Dunja Ivana Ballon (HURA! and IAB Croatia), Damir Ciglar (Imago Ogilvy), and Jelena Fiškuš (Studio Sonda) — the new permanent members of the Organizing Committee are Rajna Cuculić (EssenceMediacom), Anselmo Tumpić (Studio Tumpić/Prenc), and Siniša Waldinger (Bruketa&amp;Žinić&amp;Grey). Joining them in the new competitive season are new direct rotating members Almir Okanović (BBDO Zagreb), and Marin Ostojić (ZOO agencija), as well as the elected rotating member Alen Kekić (I TO NIJE SVE).



IdejaX is the only competition that celebrates creativity in our communications industry, making it recognizable and intriguing. Participating in the committee is an opportunity to contribute to the development of the festival, bringing it even closer to prestigious global and regional festivals, said Marin Ostojić (ZOO agencija).



Siniša Waldinger (Bruketa&amp;Žinić&amp;Grey) commented: IdejaX is a reflection of the creative industry in Croatia, and through its growth and development, we can also observe the growth and development of the advertising industry, which has undergone numerous transformations over the past 15 years. The combination of a great location, global speakers, and competitive excitement is clearly a winning formula, as evidenced by the constant increase in the number of submitted works and participants.



Membership in the Organizing Committee of IdejaX represents an opportunity for me to contribute to the advancement of the creative industry and to establish and recognize new standards within the profession. I look forward to collaborating professionally with my colleagues on the Committee, as well as to the challenges that the new competition season brings, said Rajna Cuculić (EssenceMediaCom).



It is a great honor for me to be a member of this committee, as IdejaX has established itself over the years as the most important national award for creativity in market communications. IdejaX provides an opportunity not only for large agencies but also for smaller ones to showcase their full potential and creativity through their projects in the best light, pointed out Anselmo Tumpić (Studio Tumpić/Prenc).



Alen Kekić (I TO NIJE SVE) shared his thoughts on the competition: Creativity is something that will outlast all trends, visual hooks, and well-written prompts. Creativity is what makes me get up every morning and drive to work, even though I have the work-from-home option. And IdejaX is a competition that celebrates, and even somewhat glorifies creativity, so I felt compelled to take part in the Organizing Committee of IdejaX.



According to the Rulebook of the IdejaX Organizing Committee, the permanent members of the Committee will work on the IdejaX competition for the next four seasons, while the rotating members will provide a fresh perspective each year. Their first step is to meet up and discuss the goals and changes brought about by the new awards season.

BIG WINNERS OF THE BALCANNES 2024



At the DK Festival in Rovinj, Jazavac i Utorak and Hemofarm fondacija won the BalCannes Grand Prix for their&nbsp;Najvažniji poziv u životu&nbsp;project. The title of the best agency of the five countries went to Imago Ogilvy, while the&nbsp;advertiser of the year award was given to Hemofarm fondacija. A special Editor’s Pick Award, given out by the representative of the industry media from the region, went to Studenac and Imago Ogilvy for their&nbsp;EVERYBODY GUC GUC project.

CONTENTS OF THE REGIONAL BALCANNES REPORT



The BalCannes Report consists of three sections: (1) best projects, (2) best advertisers and (3) best agencies. The Effie award ceremony took place in the glamorous atmosphere at the main stage of DK2024 in Rovinj.



At the new edition of the DK Festival, the winners of the&nbsp;Effie Awards Croatia have been announced. Effie celebrates efficiency of the marketing communications. The awards go to the best agencies and advertisers for their remarkable efforts&nbsp;in the segments of creativity, strategy, and achieved market results during the past year.



The winners of the gold Effie Croatia 2024 award are PIK Vrbovec plus and Imago Ogilvy agency with their partner STUDIO NEXUS for their project Kad će? Sad će! in the&nbsp;Food&nbsp;category; Molson Coorsand BBDO Zagreb agency with their strategic partners 404 and OMD Zagreb for the Ožujsko pivo 2019-2023 project in the Sustained Success category, and Konzum plus and ZOO agencija in partnership with TCC Global and STUDIO NEXUS for their Mali veliki talenti project in the Positive Change: Social Good: Brands and Non-Profits category.



The silver was awarded to the&nbsp;EVERYBODY GUC GUC&nbsp;project by Studenac, Imago Ogilvy, and Ascanius Media in the&nbsp;Beverages&nbsp;category, as well as&nbsp;Bolji online&nbsp;by A1 Hrvatska and its primary agency BBDO Zagreb and its associate REAL GRUPA in the&nbsp;Telecommunications&nbsp;category. The silver award also went to Mali veliki talenti by Konzum plus and ZOO agencija with its partners TCC Global and STUDIO NEXUS in the Retail and E-commerce category.



There were two winners of the bronze award. Here are the most effiecient advertising projects of Effie Awards Croatia

We will not forget the last day of the festival for a long time, and without a doubt, we have strengthened the belief that DK Festival brings the most interesting speakers to the stage — but also gathers the best of the national industry.



Over the next ten years, science will be focused on researching memory, declared one of the world's leading neuroscientists, Moran Cerf powered by Hrvatski Telekom, an expert in unconscious, but perhaps precisely because of that, crucial consumer behavioral processes, during his Saturday lecture as part of DK2024, a well-known communication festival held this year on 11—14 April in Rovinj. Studies by this globally renowned scientist, described by the father of modern marketing Phil Kotler as the leader of a new generation of marketing leaders, shed light on our decision-making processes for local communicators and the steps through which they can be influenced, including predicting human interests and affinities.

At DK Festival, it's never boring — and this time, we decided to examine why, as a society, we are so hungry for spectacle, with the founder of the notorious American Fyre Festival, Billy McFarland, in conversation with Davor Bruketa. McFarland launched a music festival in 2017 that was grandiosely promoted as a unique luxury experience and the dream of all partygoers in the Instagram era, endorsed by celebrities like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner. However, it turned out to be one of the biggest scams of today. It's known that at this stage, we don't shy away from uncomfortable topics — and Fyre Festival is precisely the kind of case study we can examine from its spectacular beginning to its disastrous downfall. That's why it served as a scandalous yet inevitable arena for discussing the importance of transparency in marketing and communications, remarked Bruketa.

On Saturday, the 360 stage of the grand festival hall hosted the brilliant Eugene Cheong powered by ENNA with his inevitable talk titled Ten Things, presenting a treasury of unique thoughts and insights resulting from his life experience in creative communications. Our job is to convey emotion, not just present mere facts. To converse with human beings, we must master the language of emotions, Cheong argued. He is also the recipient of numerous prestigious recognitions for his creative work, one of the pioneers of the Asian Creative Revolution, and a prominent figure at Ogilvy for many years, leaving us speechless.

On the third day, joined us Ruby Rare, a creative, educator, and expert in fluid communication among individuals — especially brands, teaching them how to communicate more confidently and inclusively, and Marnick Vandebroek, a globally awarded speaker, author, and communication trainer who transforms companies, managers, and leaders into communication masters. In three festival halls dedicated to local experts, various topics were discussed — including digital ones like IAB Croatia’s PPP: Is AI Tripping?; efficient communication and analytics in large international markets in Is Bigger Better? by IAB Croatia; insights into the Croatian digital market in The Bigger Picture: Insights from IAB Croatia’s Online Media AdEx; all the way to regional reviews of creativity in Meet Your Neighbours: The Balkan… Oops, We Mean CEE Markets Snapshot, and many others. Additionally, IAB's new Online Media AdEx and new guidelines Attention, now! were presented.

We bid farewell to our DK community, thanked all speakers, panelists, partners, and friends of the festival and the media, and congratulated the competition winners, closing the festival doors — until next year. Anđela Buljan Šiber, a member of the Organizing Committee of DK Festival, commented: We have had three unforgettable days behind us, and Saturday's quality content was just the icing on the cake. Every year we think about how to surpass the previous edition — I'm afraid that we have a very tough task ahead of us for 2025 because this year's festival was top-notch.

How to end on a high note — tutorial by DK2024

From (un)predictable (ir)rationality, (dis)honesty, and patterns of (in)decisiveness to strategies of (un)success — these are only some of the topics of the second day of this (a)typical festival of creativity and communications.



The main hall of the popular DK Festival, which is being held these days in Rovinj, was packed to the brim thanks to Dan Ariely's appearance, who visited this creativity festival to share his knowledge with local communicators. People are overwhelmed and overworked, we must find a way to make the right thing simple, stated one of the leading experts in behavioral economics, a triple New York Times bestselling author, a scientist at Duke University, one of the favorite TED speakers who has inspired nearly 30 million viewers, and the co-author of a successful documentary on (dis)honesty, whom Bloomberg included in its selection of the 50 most original thinkers in the world.

In his talk, Dan Ariely engaged us until the very last second, as we eagerly awaited new examples and conclusions from his rich career, which showed everyone how predictably irrational we are as a species. He touched upon the predictable irrationality not only in everyday life but also in the business world – because everything we do for our company, we don't do for it, but for the people we work with. After an inspiring speech and a plethora of questions from the enthusiastic audience, he left the stage with an important piece of advice for a better life: Be less fearful, but don't just live in the moment, think about the broader perspective.

When Dan Ariely steps onto the stage, we sit and listen, commented festival director Dunja Ivana Ballon, adding, The thunderous applause from the audience confirmed that there is no greater expert on consumer behavior than him, so we are immensely proud to have had the opportunity to learn how rational-irrational and predictable-unpredictable we are from one of the greatest thinkers in the world at our typically atypical festival. An important aspect of this year's festival discussions revolved around consumer behavior, the behavioral background of decision-making, and the role of fake news in the overall (ir)rationality of society – a topic addressed in an unconventional way by Oobah Butler, today's greatest prankster and, more importantly, a darling of the audience. In his latest educational episode, titled The Great Amazon Heist, he exposed a major tech giant while hilariously entertaining us to tears. We also learned about the impact of social media on society from the creators of globally popular platforms UNILAD and LADbible, which have reached billions – taking the main stage was Alex Partridge powered by Konzum. The biggest sin any marketing professional can commit is creating content that leaves the audience indifferent. It's crucial to find a way to create content that evokes emotions – and telling our own story brings us closer to the community, as emphasized by the founder of viral pages.

Behind us are two festival days filled with brilliant insights – it's a real shame if you weren't present. I'm glad we could delve into this topic at the festival: DK Festival perfectly illustrates what a touch of creativity means for better work – and life.

Dan Ariely blew our mind at the main stage of Hall AAA

Award ceremonies for the Croatian communications industry are held at the DK Festival in Rovinj, and on the second day of the festival IdejaX awards went to the most creative communications achievements chosen from more than 160 entries!



The winners of IdejaX, a national competition in creativity that has for the last 14 years gathered agencies competing with their creative ideas, have been announced on April 12 in the Main Hall in Rovinj. Among more than 160 project entries, the title of the Agency of the Year went to BBDO Zagreb, the Grand Prix was awarded to Imago Ogilvy, and Kraš is the Advertiser of the Year at IdejaX.

BEST OF POSITIVE CHANGE



In the Best of Positive Change track the gold award goes to IKEA SEE and BBDO Zagreb and the NO PLACE LIKE HOME project in the Društvo category; HEARTH thinking&amp;doing and Imago Ogilvy for the Velikanke project in the Društvo category; TZ Poreč and Studio Sonda and the Be a SeaStar Hero project in the Priroda category.



The second place in the Best of Positive Change track goes to Ida Prester and Scarlet and the 70 project in the Društvo category; Čistoća Split and CTA komunikacije for the Odvoji, lako je project in the Priroda category.



The winners of the bronze award in the Best of Positive Change track are A1 Hrvatska and BBDO Zagreb for the KAD BI SVI project in the Društvo category; Marko i Tina Babić and Degordian and the Osjećam to u kostima project in the Društvo category; Croatia osiguranje and Bruketa&amp;Žinić&amp;Grey for the Izvješće o održivosti koje neutralizira svoj ugljični otisak project in the Priroda category.



A great atmosphere at the long-awaited DK Festival has made celebrating the best ideas, young talent of the communications industry, esteemed agencies, advertisers, and individuals even more special. After the BalCannes award ceremony on the first night, and IdejaX and Young Lions Croatia on the second night; the final night of the festival is reserved for MIXX and Effie Awards Croatia award ceremonies.

Grand Prix at&nbsp;BalCannes won by&nbsp;Jazavac i Utorak and Hemofarm fondacija,&nbsp;Imago Ogilvy&nbsp;is the agency of the year, while&nbsp;Hemofarm fondacija&nbsp;won the Advertiser of the Year title at DK2024.

The winners of BalCannes, a regional competition of creativity, where agencies from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia are competing with their innovative ideas, have been announced on April 11 in the Main Hall of DK2024. It has attracted the best of the best of regional creative people in Rovinj.

 <a>Jazavac i Utorak and Hemofarm fondacija won the BalCannes Grand Prix</a> for their Najvažniji poziv u životu project.&nbsp;The title of the Agency of the Year in the region was won by Imago Ogilvy. The Advertiser of the Year award went to Hemofarm fondacija, and a special Editor’s Pick Award, in the selection of industry media from the region, went to Studenac and Imago Ogilvy agency for their EVERYBODY GUC GUC project.

At BalCannes, which has gathered the best that creativity has to offer in the five countries of our region, the agencies were able to compete in two tracks — I. Market Mosaic and II. Positive Change, and they could have won bronze, silver or gold awards. You can find a list of winners for each category below:

In the Food category the winners of the gold award are Atlantic Grupa and Ovation BBDO for the Štark – I osmeh je tu project. The winners of the silver award are Jaffa Crvenka and Žiška with the Munchmallow – Sav od igre project. The winners of the bronze award are Burek Olimpija and Agencija 101 for the Burekuna project.



ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES



The gold award in the Alcoholic Beverages goes to Franc Arman and Studio Tumpić/Prenc and the It's Time for Your Time project. The silver award goes to Heineken and Leo Burnett Belgrade for the Za sve ono što nas spaja project. The bronze award goes to Heineken Hrvatska and Bruketa&amp;Žinić&amp;Grey for the Kad sjedne prva plaća project.



NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES



The winners of the Non-alcoholic Beverages are Pipi Beverages and Imago Ogilvy and the PIPI – A TOAST FOR EVERY ROAST project. The silver award goes to Studenac and Imago Ogilvy for the EVERYBODY GUC GUC.



TELLECOMUNICATIONS



The winners of the silver in the Telecommunications category are A1 Srbija and Leo Burnett Belgrade and the NEO23 VAU platform project. The winners of the bronze award are One Albania and Creative Disorder Studio for the Manifesto in the sky.



FINANCE AND INSURANCE



In the Finance and Insurance category the silver award goes to RBA - Raiffeisenbank Hrvatska and Imago Ogilvy for the Financijska početnica: Oni od plaće do plaće project. The winners of the bronze award are Croatia osiguranje i Bruketa&amp;Žinić&amp;Grey and the LAQO Insurance Museum project.



RETAIL



In the Retail category the winners of the gold are Bingo and Via Media for the U Bingu sam project. In this category the silver award goes to Mercator and Herman &amp; partnerji with the THE WHITE BOXES project. The bronze award goes to ePlaneta and DRV agency for the Iskreno project.



HEALTH AND PHARMACY



The gold prize in the Health and Pharmacy category goes to Hemofarm fondacija and Jazavac i Utorak for the Najvažniji poziv u životu project.



TOURISM, CULTURE, LEISURE



The gold award in the Tourism, Culture and Leisure category goes to Beogradska Filharmonija and McCann Beograd with the Na dobrom putu project.



CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS



The winners of the silver in the Corporate Communications category are Croatia osiguranje and Bruketa&amp;Žinić&amp;Grey for the Croatia za Hrvatsku project.



MISCELLANEOUS



The gold in the Miscellaneous category goes to Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, Slovenia and Agencija 101 and the Lepo je biti kmet project. The silver award goes toČistoća Split and CTA komunikcije for the Odvoji, lako je project. The third place in theMiscellaneous category goes to Skateistan and Futura DDB and the #Playforskateistan project.



GREEN IMPACT



In the Green Impact category, the winners of the silver award areČistoća Split and CTA komunikcije and the Odvoji, lako je project. The bronze award goes to Terra Hub and 404 for their terrapija – Liječimo Zemlju edukacijom project.



COMMUNITY CARE



The winners of the Community Care category are Hemofarm fondacija and Jazavac i Utorak for the Najvažniji poziv u životu project. The silver prize was awarded to Counseling office for Workers and Agencija 101 for the GastarbAIter project. The winners of the bronze award in the Community Care category are UNICEF Srbija and Ovation BBDO for the Kako si, ali stvarno? project.

Regional experts awarded the best of creativity from BIH, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia at BalCannes

Several thousand participants from Croatia and neighboring countries, 163 speakers and performers, 123 companies, firms, and associations as partners, sponsors, and friends of the festival, 518 projects submitted to competitions, 7 festival locations, 3 days, 3 nights - and one and only unique DK Festival.



On April 11, the big festival of creativity and communications opened its doors to creatives, digital experts, communicators, designers, and all enthusiasts of creativity and market communications. In its tenth edition, spanning three festival days, it will gather several thousand participants and a large international communication community at the Lone Hotel in Rovinj. There has been unprecedented public interest in all segments of the festival so far. On Friday, April 12, at a press conference held by the festival organizers, Dunja Ivana Ballon, the director of the Croatian Association&nbsp;of Communications Agencies (HURA) and IAB Croatia, and the director of DK Festival and the festival program, along with Jelena Fiškuš, the president of the HURA and IAB Croatia Management Board, and a member of the festival's Organizational Committee, spoke. They were joined by some of the main stars of this year's festival, Dan Ariely and Moran Cerf.



We proved that the absolute support and desire of the communications community for this project are what motivates them the most, and it is clearly visible from the initial statistics of the festival. The unique festival program, high-quality production, and organization are expected to once again impress the communication community this year, with a total of 163 speakers and performers, 123 companies, businesses, and associations as partners, sponsors, and friends of the festival, as well as more than 70 segments taking place at 7 festival locations.

According to many, alongside arguably the best program in this part of the world, our typically atypical festival will include nighttime lectures, beach lectures, post-program beers, beach after-parties, a new production in the main 360° hall, unique FUCK &amp; LOVE merchandise, a new fourth hall, <a href="https://danikomunikacija.com/news/dk-sidekick-a-new-ai-member-of-the-dk-team" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the first AI</a> at such an event in Croatia, and a whole host of other unprecedented content, stated Dunja Ivana Ballon, confirming that where superlatives end - that's where DK2024 begins.

In addition to the speakers in the main hall, for the first time, participants can engage in a variety of interesting discussions in not just one but three festival halls, covering topics of great importance to the industry, from digital issues and cryptocurrencies to creativity and public relations. National experts will be joined by regional ones in these discussions, providing a high-quality overview of the creative and communications scene. Apart from the daytime program, awards are also presented during all three festival evenings to the most outstanding achievements in the field.



Jelena Fiškuš emphasized the importance of professional competitions for both the festival and the industry as a whole: We are proud to have gathered 518 projects for the awards across five competitions, with 118 jury members and competition committees involved in selecting the best. Competitions are not only valuable from the perspective of award winners: learning occurs even when a project doesn't achieve the desired competitive result because competitions provide very useful feedback on work, as well as on the market context, offering insights into national production and serving as great inspiration. We can't wait for the awarding of the gold, silver, and bronze statues - see you in the main hall every festival evening!

Renowned neuroscientist Moran Cerf powered by Hrvatski Telekom, will have a talk titled 3 Ideas From Neuroscience That Were Discovered in the Last 10 Years and Will Change the Next 10, and about the festival, he remarked: DK is an incredible festival. With such diversity and inspiration, we all want to give our best to contribute to the fantastic atmosphere.

The biggest edition of DK Festival has started

What is the price of spectacle today and why are we, regardless of the cost, so hungry for it? One of the key premises of marketing is truthfulness — where truthfulness disappears, marketing ends and deception begins, as examples like the notorious American Fyre Festival by Billy McFarland clearly demonstrate. It's not surprising that this globally recognized deception — which has been the subject of two documentaries — is thoroughly analyzed in American business schools as an example of how not to conduct business and what marketing must not be. In search of answers to these questions at DK2024, which will take place in Rovinj 11—14 April, a conversation with Billy McFarland, who will join virtually, will be led by Davor Bruketa.



McFarland is the founder of a music festival that was grandiosely announced in 2017 as a uniquely luxurious experience and the dream of all partygoers in the Instagram era, endorsed by celebrities like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner. However, it turned out to be one of the biggest scams of our time. Instead of gourmet meals and luxury villas, for which festival attendees paid hundreds and thousands of dollars, they were met with numerous problems on-site, and the initially announced performers withdrew from the festival even before it started.



After serving his prison sentence for fraud, concluding in 2022, The Guardian described McFarland's actions by stating that no matter how much we might loathe him, we as the audience are also enthralled by the scale of [his] delusions, and perhaps, by our own willingness to be taken in. Most of us, from time to time, want to belong somewhere; the allure of leadership of any kind can be hard to resist — and there is no better example to learn about the importance of behavioral marketing in consumerist society than the Fyre Festival.

The key question is not why tickets for another Fyre Festival are back on sale. The question is — why is the first batch of tickets allegedly already sold out? Is this also just another trick or scam that some people might fall for again or do people still truly believe in McFarland's sense of spectacle — we will find out on the main stage of DK2024, stated Davor Bruketa, Member of the Organizing Committee of DK Festival.



In the communications business, there are numerous examples through which we can critically examine the world around us and then reassess everything we know — a skill that DK Festival, together with its community, continuously hones, not shying away from the tough issues of the industry. Is McFarland, as he called himself, a creator of turbulence or simply a persistent fraudster? In the interview titled The Secret to Going Viral, which will be conducted by Davor Bruketa, DK2024 will showcase the other side of the coin in a case study of a brand that became one of the most recognizable brands in the world for all the wrong reasons, confronting it with eyes wide open and dissecting it down to the most uncomfortable details.
